Freelance Project for a Non Commercial Client
Fashion Council Germany is the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week official partner tasked with creating a network for designer, entrepreneurs and potential sponsors. With different programmes young designers can enrol to, FCG helps create exciting collaborations in the german fashion industry , culminating in a great showcasing during the Berlin Fashion Week. It was therefore an exciting and refreshing task to design the online platform, where those collaboration start and their results are presented. Working as external UX Designer, I had pitch my design ideas to the client, but also manage the development workload on the agency's side. It was also a novel experience for me to start with preexisting design guidelines, focusing on the experience design, rather than the content.

STICKING TO THE GUIDELINES
As the branding for this project was predetermined, the client briefed me with specifics like color scheme, typography and visual language. The challenge was to translate those assets, mostly designed for print, into complex digital product.

WIREFRAME & FLOW
It was the client's brief that the product should combine multiple functions and contents, making the data architecture quite complex. Therefore it was essential to pitch and iterate on the wireframe and user flow to make sure the client is on board before proceeding into design and prototyping.

FEATURED PROGRAMMES
The main function of this product is to curate the different programmes that young designers can enrol to, and of course, potential partners can become sponsor of.
To achieve that I went for bold, square buttons in the corporate colours, emphasising the individuality of each programme. Programme content that follows is then discovered over vertical scroll in white space, while designer curation is i

MEMBER DIRECTROY FUNCTION
Designers of various categories, institutions and programme partners from different industries all must be represented and easy to access over a search function. To make sure that user is not overwhelmed with endless lists, we created a bright, friendly, dashboard-like search function. We also enabled a quick overview in the listing, enabling the user to quickly discover the member before diving in to their work and contribution.

FASHION WEEK CALENDAR
Besides curating different programmes and listing network members, Fashion Council Germany also wishes to position itself as a key partner at the Berlin Fashion Week. It is why the product had to include another calendar function, covering the different events of the Fashion Week.

A key design heuristic in this project: mobile first. That means no loss of information, content or function changing from desktop to mobile. This proved to be challenging designing the Berlin Fashion Week calendar on mobile, making sure all event information is easy to access while still staying on brand.
